(1) The material and mechanical properties of precision cast parts: the process characteristics and mechanical properties of the material of the part roughly determine the type of blank. For example, casting billets of cast iron parts; Steel parts with simple shape and low requirements for mechanical properties are commonly used bar materials; For important steel parts, forgings should be selected in order to obtain good mechanical properties; When the shape is simple, cast steel should be used. The material is complex, the mechanical properties are not high, the non-ferrous metal parts can be commonly used profiles or billets.

(2) The structural shape and size of the parts: the blanks of large and simple parts are mostly sand casting or free forging, the blanks of complex structure are mostly casting, and the blanks of small parts can be molded or pressed, and the blanks of steel parts are mainly used for forgings; If the diameter of the step is not very large, it can be used on the bar; If the dimensions of each step differ greatly, forging should be used.
